Institutions must make a good faith effort to distribute voter registration forms and information to current and prospective students and to make voter registration forms widely available to students at the school. Schools can distribute forms either by mail or electronically to each student by email. Emails or other electronic delivery methods must be devoted exclusively to voter registration and therefore cannot be combined with other information. Schools must request voter registration forms at least 120 days prior to the deadline for registering to vote in their state.
Schools should have a written policy and procedure and should be sure to follow it.
