In a recent Dear Colleague Letter the Department put out one of the most comprehensive lists of regulations and considerations for schools affected by a disaster. It’s so good I’m linking to it here.
Parts of 34 CFR provide flexibility for school affected by disasters. The flexibilities include exceptions and considerations the Department may make to regulatory requirements and timeframes related to schools Title IV participation. Processing and reporting aid, enrollment status and even campus crime and consumer information are all subject to reporting requirements in the normal course of school business; however these timeframes may be extended for affected schools affected by a disaster. The provisions also provide guidance on lost student records, agreements which permit students to study at another institution and more, so check it out.
