MORE DELAYS FOR BORROWER DEFENSE TO REPAYMENT REGULATIONS

The Borrower Defense to Repayment regulations which were originally scheduled to go into effect on July 1, 2017 have been effectively postponed until July 1, 2019. Although the Department published an interim final rule recently which delayed BDR implementation until July 1, 2018, a separate NPRM issued last week further delays the effective date of the BDR rules until 2019, to allow the Department to seek public comments.

Meanwhile Negotiated Rulemaking Sessions for Borrower Defense to Repayment Regulations begin on November 13, 2017. For a full list of negotiators, click here.
